Jury rules in favour of Apple over patent war

Samsung should pay Apple Inc a whopping sum of 1.05 billion US dollars for infringement of Apple patents in Samsung tablets and smartphones. The verdict was given by a jury in California District Court on 24th.

The trial between these huge giants were going on from last year and finally it ended. This was a complex case and involved patents like bar models with round edged rectangles for which Apple got patent. The jury consisted of nine members and concluded that Samsung willfully infringed the patents though they were aware of it. The jury awarded damages of $1,049,343,540 to Apple. They also agreed to the Apple's patent stating they are valid and Samsung violated the patents in nearly 20 of its model as claimed by Apple. This is a major win for Apple.

Another patent trial is pending against Apple which is filed by Google subsidiary Motorola Mobility. This petition is under review by the judge.
